Chester FC v Kidderminster programme piece

Other than being a blogger, a mum and having a full time job I also enjoy contributing to a couple of social media pages. One such page is the Non-League News, on both Facebook and Twitter. On a Saturday (now I am getting a little bit too pregnant to be at the football) I will get involved in doing the match updates keeping all of our fellow Non-League fans informed on the games across the National leagues as the goals happen. What I am finding other than being the only girl in a team of boys, is that it's not so easy being a Chester fan right now. I am sure that every time I am on the goal updates I do jinx Chester somehow as we never seem to win but I think they may well be because we don't seem to be winning very much. Gone are the days when we could sit back happy in the knowledge that we will do well week in week out, we are facing a much tougher situation.

It used to be relatively easy to be a Chester fan when we were beating our non-league competitors in the lower leagues. But I now await a smart remark from a Wrexham fan as I am sure we all do at work or on social media. It's a terrible thing to admit but I know I am not alone in this, that when we got beat in the FA cup qualifiers the first thing I did was check what Wrexham had done. What a sigh of relief when they had also been beat, work would be bearable on Monday! Obviously I always have in my armour that we did win the Derby and they can't argue that one but we will play them again and I am not wholly convinced I will have the upper hand on that one any more.

I saw an article this week from Jim Green that said we shouldn't sniff at a mid table position but unfortunately I do. We are much better than that and in this league where teams that look like front runners, Forest Green for example can go four games on the bounce without a win anything is possible. I think we need a bit more belief in ourselves again. We rode on the crest of a wave in the Eco-stik days, let's get back to those confident ways and start aiming for those top spots once again.
